Implants are an incredibly versatile dental tool. They can be used in different combinations to support a single tooth, several teeth or a complete set of teeth. And the test of time has shown results are extremely reliable. Implant technology allows a powerful union between cosmetic and restorative dentistry, providing teeth that have excellent function and aesthetically pleasing.
How it works
The implants are small titanium threaded pins that screw into the jawbone and are effectively replacement tooth roots. Occasionally, a synthetic bone graft will be required to create a secure fixing point for the pin if the natural jawbone has eroded through age. The procedure for fixing four implants to retain, for example, an upper denture, would normally take about eight to nine weeks from initial consultation to having the teeth loaded on to fixings.
Using implants does not preclude other restorative dental procedures such as crowns, multiple teeth bridges and fillings.
